and then we started work on these new ones… i hope you’ll agree that they sounded awesome already – and i am hoping over the next couple of weeks we will all feel confident to play them in front of an audience (or 3) !
we had such a fantastic time in York on Saturday….watch this space for video treats! thank you to everyone who came to play (there were 27 of us!) and those who came to support us. it really was a great day and we are very grateful to steve and the red cow music team for hosting such an awesome event. i hope there will be another one next year…because we’ll be back fo sho!
anyhoo… there is no rest for the wicked! we have another gig on sunday – so last night’s session was spent looking at some songs we haven’t played in a while.
the gig is in association with Otley Walking Festival and the event is called “Follow The Strings”
we will be playing songs in 3 of Otley’s pubs…ending up at The Fleece with a bit of a session.
Download all the info you need right here….
so as you can see it was a hectic (but fun as always!) evening! i can’t wait for sunday…it’s going to be great. so bring your friends and bring your best singing voice….see you at the Woolpack, 7.30pm on Sunday 23rd
Please note we have a new set list for York, as I took the executive decision to remove PUSH IT from the set until we feel super confident with it! I am hoping it will get an airing at the Kirkstall Festival in July!
so please have a look at the new order of songs here
I also wanted to say another massive thank you to everyone who helped entertain the residents at Tealbeck on monday evening. The staff and the residents really loved us and have booked in more dates in the autumn. it is so great to be able to be a part of a community that values what we are doing and that also get joy from listening to us play. even when the ‘leader’ screws up elvis! ha! let’s never speak of that again! 😉
So if you’re playing in York on Saturday 15th June, please do your best to come to the extra rehearsal (no charge of course) at 7pm Fri 14th June at the Woolpack….let’s wow the crowds!
it is pretty exciting to note that we have seven, that’s right, SEVEN gigs between now and our break for August. Check out the new CALENDAR page (top of the home screen) and the updated GIG page for more details. Make a note of them and hopefully you will be able to joins us for some (or all!) of the performances.
After last night’s session I am really happy how well the songs are coming together for Tealbeck (next week!) and the York Ukulele Festival. I will have more travel information for you next week about getting to York (we need to be at the side of the stage in St Samson’s Sq for 15:45.
it is recorded in a slower time so you can play along. it’s pretty funny. i think it will really work and i was so impressed with how people gave it a try last night. tab playing can be tricky, but like everything – you just need to practise!
it is my vision for OUO that we do something fun, unique, interesting and AWESOME! variety is key to this i think and i love your suggestions for songs.
keep practising and see you next monday for TEALBECK!
we’ll meet at the Woolpack between 6pm-6.20pm, walk down together and be back for the York practise at 7.30pm. Please also note i have booked us a rehearsal at the Woolpack on FRIDAY 14th JUNE 7pm for a run through of the York set (which you will not have to pay a sub for!) 🙂
any queries please get in touch….until then my friends, ta ra!
