WE DID IT! AGAIN! We’re so so happy that we came FIRST in the Adult Float Category at Otley Carnival 20th June 2015. I would like to say a huge, huge thank you to everyone who helped from brainstorming ideas, tearing up thousands of pieces of red tissue paper, making a giant drum/palm tree/backdrop, carried stuff from The Woolpack to the float, plugged in microphones, made a massive effort with the costumes and strummed and sang like you life depended on it!
You are all truly ukulele legends. We had such a fun day 🙂

The calm before the storm (Thanks to Simon C for the photo!)
I will be running a Ukulele Crash Course designed for total beginners starting this October. Prices include a book and CD to take home with you! This course is ideal if you would like to join Otley Ukulele Orchestra (or another group!) but need to build up your skills first. Please spread the word!
We love a good weather related song here at Otley Ukulele Orchestra!
We have been looking at this song in the 7pm-8pm session and we will be perfoming it with Otley A Cappella choir on 24th July at our summer concert at Korks. Hope you can make it!
Have a listen to the demo I have recorded… hope it will give you a sense of what it will sound like! There are several ukulele parts – 2 chords and 2 tab/fingerpicking. It really adds some depth to the arrangement and sounds lovely in the group.
I can’t wait until Carnival day – it’s going to be so much fun… seeing everyone in their fancy dress! 🙂
I’m also excited to tell you that we have just confirmed a Carnival aftershow party at Whitakers from 4pm on Carnival day – hope you can make it!
WOO HOO for Carnival Day!
I have just secured the Grasington Bunk Barn for the weekend 24th-26th June 2016. It’s right in the middle of the Grassington Festival – really hope you can join us as it was so much fun this year… there’ll be lots of opportunity to play and have fun together. Put the dates in your diary!
I can’t believe it’s June all ready and there is so much to look forward to!
OTLEY UKULELE ORCHESTRA – every Monday 7pm – 9pm – ALL WELCOME 🙂
In the 7pm – 8pm sessions we’ll be continuing to have a good old strum and sing – songs are suitable for new players as well as those with more experience. Songs we are looking at the moment range from rock and roll to disco to 90s indie!
8pm – 9pm session – we’ll be working towards our gigs that are coming up – there are 5 opportunities to play together in June!
Sign up sheets will be available in the 8pm session from this evening.
If you’ve never been to the 8pm session you’d be more than welcome to come and have a listen in… you may find that you can join in with a lot of what is going on!
