we had another lovely outdoor session this week – it would be amazing if we could do it every monday until autumn properly kicks in. there is something about singing and playing outdoors that is really magical (even when wasps fly into your face mid-intro!)
anyway, we had another look at MR TAMBOURINE MAN and WILD MOUNTAIN THYME lyrics and chords and the songs are really coming together. there are a few tricky changes in wild mountain time that people really worked at in the session and i hope the newer members weren’t put off by that tricky Em chord!
After 13 weeks of meeting up it has come to the point where i would like to try out a different set up for our monday evenings. i discussed this with those who were there on monday and there seemed to be positive feedback. of course it is so difficult to please everyone but i hope the new sessions will have something for everyone.
SESSION 1 (6.30pm-7.30pm) the focus will be on more fun and looking at more songs you love to sing and learn chords/techniques as we go along
SESSION 2 (7.30pm-8.30pm) will be more aimed at performance arrangements like 2 or 3 ukulele parts and (maybe!) 2 vocal parts.
the sessions will be £4 each or £6 for both
i just want to clarify that EVERYONE is welcome to attend the first or second or BOTH sessions if you want. i just want to be clear about what each session will involve!
i hope that this way more people will be able to come because of the later times and that there is the opportunity to try either session to see what you prefer. i fully appreciate that some people just are not interested in performing in public so session 1 will be no pressure and just fun. i will also be able to do more ‘requests’ in terms of song arrangements. those of us who want to do more performances can concentrate on those arrangements in session 2 without boring the ones who don’t!
and so in other news…..check out the LOGO!!
MASSIVE thanks to TOM and RICHARD for helping my crappy biro sketch become a real life AMAZING logo!
I can’t wait for the t-shirts to come back from the printers in time for our FOLK FESTIVAL GIG 22nd September 7pm at the old cock (otley). don’t worry – i will be plugging this gig many times over the next few weeks
so all in all an exciting few weeks are in store for us ukulele lovers. i absolutley love our monday sessions and can’t wait for more sessions together, more progress, more songs, more performances and more members. MORE MORE MORE!
see you soon
